Week 2 Reflection

What a week.  I have learned a lot about the areas that an action research topic or project can be derived.  This was even demonstrated during our staff development on Friday.  The principal realized that effective feedback was not being given and that some teachers were not even aware what effective feedback was to look like.  The staff development was good  and made everyone think about how to give effective feedback.  It highlighted formative versus summative and what each looked like.  The presentation good but the program was too long and was not able to be completed in the time allotted.  I wish there was more time to talk about the last of the presentation.

Staff development is an important part of the administrators role and definitely needs to have an action research project in order to provide relative and meaningful content.

  1. I agree that the importance of timely feedback is beneficial. I think that this should be included regularly in the staff development cycle. As far as meetings, despite how beneficial they are, a timeline needs to be followed. Those that want to hear the end of the presentation, such as yourself, cannot because the majority of people typically do not. Other than the timing, it is great to see an administrator actively finding a relevant topic to research.
